About The Position

This open state advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Inmate Appeals Department. The purpose of the Correctional Services Consultant is to manage and resolve inmate grievances, lead staff training and curriculum development, monitor compliance with regulations, support field staff and coordinators, and ensure accurate reporting and documentation. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

• Must possess at least 3 years’ experience handling inmate grievances.
• Must possess at least 3 years’ experience working at a professional level in security, classification, sentence structure or inmate grievances.
• Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
• Must pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Manages and investigates inmate grievance complaints, assists with specialized cases, and helps resolve inmate issues for rehabilitation.
• Leads curriculum development, organizes statewide training events, and balances staff caseloads to ensure deadlines are met.
• Oversees grievances related to inmate tablets and kiosks, and supports field staff and regional grievance coordinators.
• Reviews and approves grievances, monitors compliance with rules and policies, and trains staff on grievance procedures.
• Develops reports to track grievance processes, participates in review teams for complex cases, and provides documentation to legal and risk management offices.
