Correctional Sergeant (Wilsonville)-Multiple Work-out-of-Class/Job Rotations for ODOC and OCE employees only Coffee Creek Correctional Facility – Wilsonville, OR Oregon Department of Corrections Are you ready to step into a leadership role and take on greater responsibility in maintaining safety, security, and professional development within the facility? We are seeking dedicated and experienced candidates for 2 Work-out-of-Class (WOC) Correctional Sergeant positions. These positions are job rotations/WOC opportunities anticipated to last 12 months, though may be extended or decreased due to business need. These rotations/WOC positions are available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections or Oregon Corrections Enterprises with their current manager's approval (applications without approval will be rejected). About the Job – Your Role As a Correctional Sergeant, you will be a senior security staff member responsible for overseeing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of AICs while upholding the mission of the Department. You will serve as a lead worker, ensuring facility operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You will supervise AICs during movement assignments, monitor high-security areas, and conduct security operations such as transports, searches, and emergency response. In this role, you will also play a key part in staff development, assisting in training and mentoring subordinate staff. You will lead by example, modeling professionalism, accountability, and behaviors that support rehabilitation efforts. This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in a correctional security setting where your primary duties were the care and custody of AICs.
  • Ability to obtain, within two weeks, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate OR a Correctional Certificate from another government agency.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • United States Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license.
