We are seeking dedicated and experienced candidates for the position of Correctional Sergeant. About the Job – Your Role As a Correctional Sergeant, you will be a senior security staff member responsible for overseeing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody while upholding the mission of the Department. You will serve as a lead worker, ensuring facility operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You will supervise AICs during movement assignments, monitor high-security areas, and conduct security operations such as transports, searches, and emergency response. In this role, you will also play a key part in staff development, assisting in training and potentially mentoring subordinate staff as a Field Training Officer (FTO). You will lead by example, modeling professionalism, accountability, and behaviors that support rehabilitation efforts.

Requirements

  • You must be a current ODOC Correctional Sergeant employee to be considered for a lateral transfer request.

  • Employees requesting a lateral transfer by voluntary demotion from a higher security series classification can do so from this announcement.
  • You must be currently DPSST certified to request a lateral.
