About The Position

Reporting to the Correctional Housing Unit Manager II, this position provides supervision for subordinate officers regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a Minimum/Medium/Close custody state correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. This role involves supervising and assigning subordinate officers to a particular area or post, completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. The position is also responsible for accounting for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready, and for subordinate officers' activities relating to the custody and welfare of offenders. This role requires working rotating and various duty assignments within the defined level of work.

Requirements

  • MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
  • Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Produce a negative drug screening result
  • Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience as a correctional officer
  • Or An equivalent combination of education and experience
