About The Position

As a Correctional Security Guard - Armed in Charleston, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Security Officer supporting a government corrections location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and respond professionally to emerging concerns. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Possess at least one year of law enforcement experience, at least two years of security-related supervisor or manager experience, or at least three years of security-related experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card or license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security-related training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to facility staff, visitors, and authorized personnel while carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and maintenance concerns.
  • Monitor access to assigned areas, verify credentials as required, and document visitor and contractor activity in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and public agencies as directed.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports of patrols, incidents, observations, and other security-related activities.
