About The Position

The Correctional Programs Director I serves as the Department Manager for Programs at Greene Correctional Institution, a minimum-custody facility in Maury, North Carolina, housing 656 adult male offenders. The position directs and administers inmate rehabilitation programs and is responsible for a major program on an area or statewide basis. The role oversees staff management, program instruction, referrals, inmate classification, release procedures, and standard operating procedures. It supervises personnel who develop, implement, and maintain programs, and coordinates program operations with custody staff. Programs include inmate classification and correctional programs such as incentive wage, adult basic education, volunteer programs, religion, and Work Release. Employees may serve in a custody role during emergencies such as disturbances or escapes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in correctional programs management or related work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Documented experience with report writing.
Documented knowledge of case management practices, supportive counseling techniques, and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
