About The Position

The Utah Department of Corrections - Reentry and Rehabilitation Division is seeking a self-motivated individual to fill a Correctional Program Coordinator II position. The primary purpose of this position is to evaluate the fidelity, quality and implementation of new or ongoing programs in a correctional setting. The Correctional Program Coordinator II is responsible for the development, implementation, and interpretation of policies, procedures, and practices used to carry out program objectives. This role provides leadership to ensure quality services as a liaison and a subject matter expert to related service providers and organizations, and acts as an expert resource to management by training in related topics. Additionally, this position may supervise professional-level staff, contract employees, interns, volunteers, and/or support staff.

Requirements

  • Experience observing instruction and providing feedback that improves quality of curriculum or program delivery.
  • Solid understanding of evidence-based practice frameworks and experience in operations analysis.
  • Understanding of quality standards for broadcast or remote instruction.
  • Working knowledge of Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and ability to navigate technology and data collection systems.
  • Strong complex problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to facilitate professional groups and serve on various boards, councils, or task forces.
  • The ability to listen to, read, and communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • The ability to recognize when something is wrong, apply general rules to specific problems, and find relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Work is typically performed in an office setting with standard safety risks. The role involves sitting, walking, standing, and carrying light items.
  • This position requires statewide travel and the ability to adjust a normal working schedule as the need arises.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the quality and fidelity of programming for both in-person and broadcasted/hybrid models.
  • Conducts observations and provides high-quality pedagogical feedback to educators and practitioners to improve programming engagement and risk-reduction outcomes.
  • Researches evidence-based practice (EBP) frameworks and evaluates current curricula to ensure alignment with agency goals.
  • Facilitates cross-setting community of practice or professional learning community where educators and practitioners share resources and refine instructional practices to improve implementation efforts. Also serves on boards, councils, committees, and task forces.
  • Plans and manages program projects, including monitoring contractor performance to ensure compliance and recommending actions to correct deficiencies.
  • Monitors program budgets, including revenues, expenditures, and budget projections.
  • Performs employee relations functions, works with managers to resolve performance issues, and may supervise professional-level staff, interns, or volunteers.
  • Prepares and reviews documents for accuracy and policy conformance, and investigates grievances or complaints.
  • Works with Programming Chains of command and OSIIs to identify, track and report on KPI metrics.
  • Writes and edits correspondence, reports, and program plans for procedural and grammatical accuracy.
