About The Position

This is an internal promotional opportunity for current FDC employees. The incumbent in this position is responsible for supervising, surveilling, and maintaining a specialized caseload. This may include youthful offenders, drug offenders, community controlees, pre-trial intervention offenders, or offender releases. The position may also involve duties such as intake officer, court liaison officer, trainer, and electronic monitoring device installer. Additionally, the role may include directing and supervising a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center, monitoring a residential treatment facility, and serving as the on-site departmental representative for program participants.

Requirements

  • Certified in accordance with Florida Statutes 943.13.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work independently and/or under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of techniques for advising, interviewing, and counseling.
  • Ability to review and analyze data.
  • Ability to assist offenders in solving problems.
  • Ability to conduct investigations.
  • Ability to apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising, surveilling, and maintaining a specialized caseload of offenders.
  • Performing duties related to intake, court liaison, training, and electronic monitoring.
  • Directing and supervising correctional probation officers.
  • Monitoring residential treatment facilities and acting as an on-site representative.
  • Encouraging and fostering offender compliance with supervision orders through guidance and monitoring.
  • Conducting field and office supervision visits via various methods.
  • Assessing and identifying offender needs and referring them to appropriate treatment options.
  • Establishing and recording structured treatment programs and client management classifications.
  • Developing offender payment plans and enforcing compliance.
  • Maintaining case records in both electronic and hard copy formats.
  • Conducting pre-sentence, pre-trial, post-sentence, and other required investigations.
  • Making recommendations to sentencing or releasing authorities regarding offender supervision.
  • Attending hearings and appearing as a witness in proceedings.
  • Reporting non-compliance with supervision orders and preparing violation reports.
  • Maintaining liaison with various criminal justice representatives and agencies.
  • Developing partnerships with local law enforcement.
  • Conducting individual and group counseling for offenders.
  • Interviewing offenders to obtain information.
  • Monitoring and testing offenders for controlled substances and alcohol.
  • Developing and maintaining contact with resources for offender placement in public service assignments.
  • Conducting searches and making arrests of offenders under supervision.
  • Installing and maintaining electronic/radio equipment for offender monitoring.
  • Interpreting data from monitoring equipment to document compliance.
  • Handling administrative duties and assisting supervisors.
  • Serving on teams, committees, and task forces.
  • Attending and delivering training.
  • Acting as a day-to-day training officer for a correctional probation officer.
