About The Position

This announcement is for a Correctional Officer position at the Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, Oregon. The Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking individuals who are looking for a challenging career that will test their personal fitness, intellect, and maturity, while providing opportunities for self-discovery and insight into others. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for setting limits, serving as a positive role model, and assisting in facilitating positive change in the lives of adults in custody (AIC). The DOC offers positions across various locations in Oregon, and interested candidates must apply to specific announcements for each facility. Relocation assistance may be available in some cases. By completing the application and passing the NTN React test, you will be placed on a waitlist for future openings at this location. Upon hiring, you will attend the Basic Corrections Course (BCC), which is a paid, on-the-job training program. Previous correctional experience is not required; the DOC invests in training individuals with the right personal attributes, such as integrity, passion for helping others, and motivation. This is an entry-level position. The first year is a probationary period that includes the BCC (a seven-week academy course eligible for college credit), classroom training, online courses, health and fitness classes, force skills training, and a comprehensive Field Training Evaluation Program (FTEP). The BCC is certified by the Department of Public Safety and Standards Training (DPSST). During the probationary period, work hours, shifts, and days off will vary based on institutional needs. All Correctional Officer positions are union represented, and training, work hours, breaks, and days off are determined by the institution's labor contract. After completing the probationary period, work shifts and days off may be subject to a bid process according to the applicable labor contract.
