This Correctional Officer Sergeant position is located at Marion Correctional Institution. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. The role involves supervising male or female inmates, managing housing areas, enforcing rules, transporting inmates, conducting head counts, and maintaining custody and control. It also includes performing crisis intervention, maintaining facility security through searches and contraband checks, observing inmate behavior for mental or emotional disorders, and providing emergency assistance. The Sergeant directs Correctional Officers in various duties, including supervising inmates, checking mail, overseeing work details, maintaining inmate counts, operating the Control Room or Main Gate, ensuring accurate transportation permits, and preparing reports. Attendance at mandatory training is also required.
