About The Position

CMT Services Inc. is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner to support Federal, State, and Local government agencies at the Baltimore Central Booking Intake Facility (BCBIC) Sally Port. This role involves providing comprehensive healthcare services to inmates, including physical examinations, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, medication management, patient education, and documentation. The Nurse Practitioner will also collaborate with other healthcare professionals and ensure the safety and security of the facility.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills and strong medical knowledge.
  • Active Nurse Practitioner license with relevant board certification (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, or equivalent).
  • Experience in acute and chronic healthcare management and emergency procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with staff and inmate populations.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and decisions in a high-intensity environment.
  • Resilience and ability to manage stress.
  • Cultural competency to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
  • Must successfully complete a background check.
  • Must be eligible to obtain all required facility clearances and credentials upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and correctional healthcare protocols preferred.
  • Prior correctional, detention center, or jail intake (Sally Port) experience is preferred but not required.
  • DPSCS credentials and EPHR access are preferred; candidates are not required to possess DPSCS credentials at the time of consideration and may obtain required credentials upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performing comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Diagnosing and treating illnesses.
  • Prescribing, administering, and dispensing medication.
  • Educating inmates about treatment plans, illness prevention, and other health-related topics.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Working with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.
  • Maintaining security of the facility along with other correctional staff.
  • Familiarity with NextGen.
