About The Position

The Correctional Food Service Manager III coordinates the operational functions of the Food Service Department at Central Prison, a multi-custody male correctional facility with hospital operations and complex offender populations with special needs. The position reports to the Associate Warden of Programs. The role plans, directs, and supervises food preparation and service for offenders, manages the department’s fiscal and personnel operations, and conducts investigations as needed for operational needs. The selected candidate may work any shift, including weekends and holidays, to support 24/7 staff coverage.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and six years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services or management of commercial food service operations; or three years as a Correctional Food Service Supervisor; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Documented supervision or leadership of employees and/or offender workers.
Documented knowledge of food management techniques and health regulations.
Documented ability to estimate and plan meal preparation, including supplies, food items, and time requirements.
