Correctional Facility Composition Adjunct Instructor
About The Position
The English Department at Jefferson Community College invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions teaching incarcerated students at our Cape Vincent and Gouverneur locations. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' lives through education. We have immediate openings for instructors to teach Basic Composition and College Composition, with daytime scheduling between 8am and 3pm. Additional opportunities may be available to teach Research and Composition or Literature and Composition. We're looking for dedicated educators who are passionate about expanding access to higher education and supporting students on their academic journey.
Requirements
- Master's degree in an English-related field (English, Composition and Rhetoric, Literary Studies, etc.) preferred, however candidates with a bachelor's degree and relevant teaching/tutoring experience will be considered.
- Must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Must foster inclusion.
- Must promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.
- Must be authorized to work.
Responsibilities
- Teach Basic Composition and College Composition to incarcerated students.
- Potentially teach Research and Composition or Literature and Composition.
