About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! This position is located at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton, Burke County, NC. Foothills Correctional Institution is a close/minimum custody male facility. THIS POSTING IS INTERNAL... Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychological test procedures, standard test forms and/or other devices used in ascertaining intelligence, aptitude, personality, and other related psychological traits.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of interviewing techniques and principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of rules, regulations, and/or policies relating to offender custody and treatment.
  • Demonstrated skills in communicating effectively with offenders/prison staff/other constituents.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervising and/or managing a program’s operation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience as a Correctional Case Analyst; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative supervision to Case Analysts and support staff, including training, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
  • Supervise the admission, orientation, interviewing, and assessment processes for incoming offenders.
  • Oversee the preparation of diagnostic reports to determine custody levels, programming, and housing assignments.
  • Initiate changes in procedures, ensure compliance with state and correctional facility policies, and manage records.
  • Act as a liaison with prison wardens, security administration, and outside agencies to ensure smooth diagnostic workflow.
