About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising inmates in the maintenance of city parking structures, METRA Facility, and all bus routes. The role involves supervising and maintaining the safety of inmates and the public. Responsibilities include scheduling the cleaning of city public parking garages and city parking lots, maintaining all METRA lawn tools and equipment, and managing equipment inventories. Tasks also include painting poles, gates, and walls; cleaning spiders webs from walls and ceilings; and washing floors. The officer collects trash daily from public parking garages and lots, cuts lawns, and maintains the appearance of parking grounds. Additionally, the role involves maintaining trash pickup and weed cutting along ten bus routes. Other related job duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge of correctional techniques.
Knowledge of management and supervisory techniques.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques.
Knowledge of gardening and lawn maintenance practices.
Skill in the operation of pressure washers, lawn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sidewalk edger’s, and sprinkler systems.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain certification by the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Employee must pass P.O.S.T. certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months but may be altered.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
