Correctional Building Maintenance Superintendent – Maine State Prison, Warren.
About The Position
The Correctional Building Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for structure and craft work in directing and overseeing repair, construction, and maintenance within a building complex. Responsibilities include planning and directing the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers in the building trades. Work involves laying out the overall project to subordinate foremen and monitoring progress for quality and timeliness within budgetary requirements. Supervision may be exercised over a small staff of employees and instructing, overseeing and monitoring resident behavior for activities of a resident crew engaged in assigned tasks. Work is performed under limited supervision.
Requirements
- Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, and equipment of the building trades including carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical, plumbing, automotive repair, and/or boiler operations.
- Knowledge of labor and materials cost estimation.
- Knowledge of building maintenance.
- Knowledge of OSHA, fire safety, and life safety guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to supervise subordinate personnel.
- Ability to coordinate construction activities.
- Ability to direct work of supervisory, skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers and residents.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Ability to inspect building conditions.
- Ability to plan and layout building maintenance and repair projects.
- Ability to use applicable computer programs.
- Ability to participate in standby rotation on emergency basis.
- A five (5) year combination of experience, education, and/or training in general maintenance and repair work including three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.
