About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Salary Range: $48,222.00 - $84,388.00 This position manages program services at Wake Correctional Center located in Raleigh, NC. The Associate Warden of Programs oversees the programs section, which provides a large variety of program services to the offender population, including case management, chaplaincy services, treatment and rehabilitation programs, work release, volunteer programs, and transitional services. In addition, this position also is responsible for establishing operating procedures and standards for all program services. This position is responsible for ongoing training of staff in areas under his/her supervision. The Associate Warden of Programs participates as a member of the Executive Management Team for planning, development and management of the facility. This position may serve as acting Warden in the absence of the Warden.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of supervisory or management level experience in correctional programs; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
