The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking individuals to join their team as Correction Officers. Correction Officers are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the institution, inmates, staff, and the public by enforcing rules and regulations. They supervise inmate activities, ensure the cleanliness and security of assigned areas, operate security controls and equipment, and conduct inmate counts, rounds, and searches. The position may involve operating vehicles for perimeter security and inmate transportation, completing reports, and preventing escapes or security threats. Officers may be required to use physical force, unarmed self-defense, or firearms when necessary to detain inmates. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace and prohibits the use of marijuana. Certain individuals are prohibited from being hired, including those with federal or state weapons disabilities, those who have engaged in sexual abuse in a confinement facility, those convicted of terrorism-related offenses, and those convicted of a felony with a direct correlation to the position's responsibilities.
