About The Position

The Corps Mission Associate serves as an evangelist within The Salvation Army, developing and leading worship services and ministerial programs while providing spiritual guidance. This role assists the Corps Officer in the day-to-day operations, including planning, coordinating, administering, monitoring, evaluating, and developing programs. The associate participates in social service programs, coordinates seasonal events, recruits and supervises volunteers, and monitors financing and budgetary compliance. A key aspect of the role is assisting in providing aid to individuals and families in need.

Requirements

Knowledge of the mission of The Salvation Army.
Knowledge of the Bible and its message for teaching lessons and leading others to Christ.
Knowledge of social service program development and specifically Christian program development with the goal of leading others to Christ.
Knowledge of The Salvation Army’s regulations and organizational structure.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of social service program administration.
Knowledge of the general principles associated with computer word processing and database management.
Ability to serve as an example of Salvationism and Christian stewardship and to demonstrate interest in the spiritual well-being of all personnel.
Ability to conduct all activities with a view to accomplishing the Army’s fundamental purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Ability to visit with people in the community to build relationships and trust leading to participation in corps programs and missions.
Ability to analyze local community needs and make recommendations to the Corp Officer.
Ability to conduct thorough research and prepare and maintain accurate and complete reports in a timely manner.
Ability to develop means for measuring effectiveness of programs, ministries, and outreach/in-reach efforts.
Ability to provide informative and accurate progress reports and statistical data.
Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment with limited supervision.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all information associated with this position.
Ability to perform duties consistent with the principles, standards, and Orders and Regulations of The Salvation Army.
Ability to conduct the affairs of this office responsibly, efficiently, and economically and to motivate staff.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Three years’ experience performing mission work or experience participating in program development for a church or corps.
Valid State Driver’s License.
Must be an active, uniform-wearing Salvationist in good standing (Bon-a-fide Occupational Qualification).

Responsibilities

Serves as an evangelist through the proclamation of Jesus Christ, aiming to impact lives through spiritual regeneration and promote membership in the body of Christ.
Assists Corps Officer and Program Coordinator in planning and implementing corps worship and outreach programs for all age groups.
Plans, develops, prepares, and leads specific youth ministries programs, including Adventure Corps meetings.
Prepares and coordinates Christian program materials and newsletters, and assists in Sunday School teacher development.
Assists and partners with Corps Officer(s) in developing Salvation Army evangelical mission outreach and growth, assessing local community needs, and identifying target areas for outreach.
Encourages and helps train corps members for mission, and develops a corps mission team.
Assists in developing, leading, and/or supporting Salvation Army evangelical mission programs and ministries in corps/club settings.
Plans, develops, and coordinates bridging events between corps and persons served in mission, clubs, centers, shelters, etc.
Assists and partners with Corps Officers in developing and conducting the Pastoral Care plan for Pathway of Hope, maintaining appropriate records and communication.
Assists in training and developing Corps Band and singing groups, and leading them in performance.
Visits individuals and groups in the local community to establish presence, increase awareness of Salvation Army ministries, and build relationships to understand community needs.
Communicates research findings and pertinent community information to the Corps Officer, prepares progress reports, and maintains statistics on program participants and corps growth.
Plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates program services based on changing client needs.
Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers for Corps programs.
Sets an example by being a Salvationist in Good Standing and participating regularly in Corps programs.
Serves as an advocate to ensure awareness of defined goals and requirements among divisional and local representatives, leadership, and program participants.
Works cooperatively and effectively with local management and participants to ensure goals are met.
Assists in the promotion of Corps growth goals, plans, and Army programs and services in the community.
May drive Salvation Army vehicle to transport Corps members to/from programs, operating vehicles in compliance with policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
