Your expertise fuels innovation, agility, and growth — driving the company's success. Role Overview: As a Cloud and Integrations Engineering Manager, you will be responsible in several key areas. First, you will use your extensive Cloud Engineering and Architecture experience to drive cloud solutions in the Field Experience value stream at NYL. Secondly, you will manage a team of Cloud and Integrations engineers, ensuring a quality technical product and timely delivery of solutions. Lastly, you will be spearheading one or more targeted initiatives, including SaaS platform deployment, in-house developed software, and cloud platform solutions primarily on AWS. You’ll collaborate with cross-tech teams and business teams to drive the successful delivery of business solutions on all these platforms, as well as manage team members to successfully implement these solutions. This role demands strong Cloud technical expertise, technology leadership, people leadership, and the ability to drive technology solutions to completion. Integrating AI toolsets and mindset into all of these responsibilities will be a key factor in this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Cloud Engineer / Developer; 12+ years professional experience as a software engineer, programmer, architect, or similar role.
  • Full Stack development experience is a must.
  • Seasoned AWS experience is a must.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Can work independently to solve complex technical issues.
  • Strong data, database, and data analytics skills, especially in relation to business understanding of the data and how technology solutions can evolve around this understanding.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • You will bring a deep understanding of both Cloud and full-stack development, how they differ, and how they work together. You will also bring a deep experience in driving technical solutions to business problems, both on an independent and team leadership level. You will use your ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. Finally, utilize your hunger for continuous learning of new technologies, methodologies, and ways to solve problems, especially in the reimagining of technical processes using evolving AI toolsets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of Cloud, DevOps, and Integration Engineering in design, engineering, and technical delivery. This team performs these functions in support of many large and small initiatives in the value stream including Financial Advisor Onboarding platforms, Advisor Recruiting, Supervision, Management, Collaboration, and Compensation.
  • Design and Architect Cloud solutions across multiple platforms, primarily AWS, Mulesoft, and multiple DevOps / AI toolsets.
  • Lead important initiatives for the Field Experience domain from a technical standpoint, starting with New York Life’s critical agent recruiting and candidate platforms. These will be a mix of SaaS and homegrown platform builds.
  • Ensure AI efficiencies are maximized in design and development to free up engineering teams for more thought leadership, learning, and business partnership.
  • Collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to gather, understand, and translate requirements and architectural designs into cloud solutions. Also, lead the development of those architectural designs.
  • Develop into an internal NYL SME for the Agent recruiting applications, components, and data.
  • Lead in the development of Agentic enablement, where applicable, in the development of business solutions through technology and data componentry.
  • Mentor cloud and integration engineers in design and implementation techniques and assist them with development hurdles.
  • Learn and administer NYL Enterprise architectural patterns and standards, ensuring all engineers follow suit.
  • Partner with the Scrum Masters and Product Owners to refine and analyze the backlog and drive the technical delivery of features into working software and designs.
  • Conducts complete assessments of complex business problems, including those involving multiple systems, customers, platforms, and technologies.
  • Develop and implement solutions to form connective tissue between NYL platforms and all the necessary data, solutions, and services using modern integration technologies such as REST, platform events, data-in-motion, pub-sub, event streaming, and event-driven patterns.
  • Ensure applications and components are optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Ensure cloud development best practices across the lifecycle: design through development through QA through support.
  • Work closely with the agile scrum team and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  • Stay current with cloud platforms and industry trends to drive innovation in solution design.
  • Stay current on NYL architectural standards.
  • Assist with planning and strategy for future PI increments for agent recruiting applications and more.
