About The Position

The Corporate Tax Intern will gain a hands-on introduction to the day-to-day responsibilities of a corporate tax department. This role involves supporting tax research, compliance, ad hoc projects, and other tax-related activities. The intern will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the department’s goals and gain valuable insight into how tax contributes to the company’s overall success. The Corporate Tax team manages Zipline’s global tax compliance, reporting, provision, planning, and risk management responsibilities across the jurisdictions where Zipline operates. They partner closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, and business teams to ensure Zipline’s activities are structured and reported appropriately, protecting the company’s financial health and supporting informed business decisions.

Requirements

  • Currently working on a Masters in Taxation or an undergraduate degree in Accounting with a strong interest in a tax career.
  • Have taken an introductory tax research course or at least one or two tax courses.
  • Ability to get into the details while also seeing the big picture.
  • Diligence and adaptability to pivot as priorities change.

Responsibilities

  • Research tax laws and summarize conclusions for the tax team.
  • Assist with sales and use tax, property tax, and other non-income tax compliance.
  • Gather and organize financial data needed for federal, state, local, and international tax returns.
  • Prepare tax reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting schedules.
  • Track filing deadlines, tax notices, and requests from external advisors.
  • Help respond to tax audits by locating records and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, data collection, and reporting through automation or better documentation.
