Albemarle is hiring a Director, Corporate Strategy to own and drive the enterprise strategic planning process, develop growth and investment theses, lead portfolio reviews across our lithium and bromine businesses, and link long-range planning to annual operating plans. This role sits at the center of Albemarle's strategic decision-making architecture, translating market insight and executive direction into capital allocation choices and growth priorities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-10+ years of experience in strategy, business management, consulting, or corporate development
  • Demonstrated experience building strategic frameworks, investment theses, and long-range planning processes
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative inputs
  • Experience presenting to C-suite, Board of Directors, and external investor audiences

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in chemicals, energy, mining, or industrial sectors strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with lithium/battery supply chain dynamics and commodity markets is a plus
  • Exposure to JV structuring, minority equity investments, or partnership models is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own the corporate strategy methodology: shape the growth investment thesis, strategic fit analysis of opportunity evaluation, target list governance, and weighting conventions
  • Lead the enterprise strategic planning process, including scenario planning, externality assessments, and strategy–LRP/AOP integration
  • Develop and maintain the investment thesis structure — market beliefs, value chain positioning, right-to-win analysis, strategic posture, and screening criteria
  • Conduct portfolio reviews across lithium and bromine businesses, evaluating growth trajectories, competitive positioning, and capital allocation trade-offs
  • Partner across the organization to build the unified corporate narrative
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations to ensure external messaging is coherent with internal strategy across Board, investor, and analyst audiences
  • Lead cross-functional strategic projects to enable new capabilities or address complex enterprise-level business questions
  • Prepare executive-quality strategy decks, board pre-reads, and pivot/exit narratives as needed
  • Support the VP in building and evolving the Strategy & EBD office's management operating system and governance cadence
