Position Summary The Corporate Staff Accountant supports daily cash management, corporate treasury operations, cash application, bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, and working-capital activities across multiple legal entities and locations. This position will have a high level of responsibility and emphasis on Corporate Treasury and Cash Application, ensuring accurate and timely processing of customer receipts, cash activity, bank transactions, and intercompany funding. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate cash records, monitoring banking activity, applying customer payments, preparing short-term and long-term cash forecasts, reconciling cash activity to the general ledger, and ensuring each entity has sufficient cash to meet its operational obligations. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple bank accounts, legal entities, customer payment activity, and competing deadlines. This individual should be able to investigate and resolve cash and cash application discrepancies promptly while partnering closely with Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Operations, and banking partners.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
Two or more years of experience in corporate treasury, cash application, accounts receivable, cash forecasting, bank reconciliation, or general accounting preferred.
Experience with cash application and customer payment processing is strongly preferred.
Experience in a Corporate Treasury environment with responsibility for daily cash management is strongly preferred.
Experience supporting multiple legal entities, locations, or bank accounts is strongly preferred.
Experience with ERP and banking platforms; NetSuite experience is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup formulas, and financial models.
Understanding of general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable, cash application, and internal controls.
Experience with ACH payments, wire transfers, positive pay, lockbox processing, and online banking platforms is preferred.
Manufacturing or private-equity-backed company experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of Corporate Treasury and cash-management processes.
Strong cash application and accounts receivable knowledge with the ability to research and resolve payment discrepancies.

Responsibilities

Perform daily and monthly reconciliations for operating, payroll, disbursement, lockbox, and other bank accounts.
Take a leading role in daily Corporate Treasury activities, including monitoring cash positions, banking activity, receipts, disbursements, transfers, and funding requirements.
Compare bank activity to the general ledger and investigate reconciling items.
Record bank transactions, fees, interest, transfers, and other cash-related journal entries.
Monitor daily cash balances and banking activity across multiple entities.
Identify unusual, duplicate, or unauthorized transactions and escalate them appropriately.
Maintain detailed schedules of outstanding checks, deposits in transit, unapplied cash, and other reconciling items.
Ensure bank reconciliations are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
Monitor cash movements between entities and assist with intercompany funding and cash transfers.
Provide daily visibility into cash availability, cash requirements, and short-term liquidity needs.
Own or play a significant role in the daily cash application process, ensuring customer payments are accurately and timely applied to the appropriate customer accounts and invoices.
Process and apply ACH, wire, lockbox, check, credit card, and other customer payment receipts.
Research and resolve unapplied cash, unidentified receipts, short payments, overpayments, deductions, and other cash application discrepancies.
Work closely with Accounts Receivable and customers to identify payment details and ensure accurate application of receipts.
Review customer remittance information and match receipts to open invoices and customer accounts.
Maintain accurate records of unapplied cash and follow outstanding items through resolution.
Reconcile cash application activity to bank statements, accounts receivable subledgers, and the general ledger.
Identify recurring cash application issues and recommend process improvements to increase accuracy and reduce unapplied cash.
Assist with customer account research and resolution of payment-related discrepancies.
Partner with Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Accounting, and Collections to improve cash visibility and accelerate the conversion of customer receipts into applied cash.
Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly, and long-term cash forecasts for multiple entities.
Gather forecast information from accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, and operational teams.
Incorporate customer receipt and cash application trends into cash forecasts and liquidity planning.
Analyze expected customer receipts, vendor payments, payroll, debt payments, capital expenditures, and other cash requirements.
Compare forecasted cash activity to actual results and explain significant variances.
Identify potential cash shortages or excess cash balances and communicate them to management.
Assist management with funding decisions, intercompany transfers, and cash-planning activities.
Improve cash-forecasting models and processes to increase accuracy and visibility.
Analyze historical collections, customer payment patterns, unapplied cash, and other working-capital trends to improve forecast accuracy.
Prepare and process intercompany cash transfers and funding requests.
Support ACH, wire, check, and other electronic payment activities.
Determine daily cash requirements and funding needs for each entity.
Assist with managing debt and interest payments.
Maintain schedules for loans, credit facilities, and other treasury obligations.
Support compliance with debt agreements and lender reporting requirements.
Help manage bank accounts, authorized signers, user access, and treasury services.
Maintain relationships with banking partners and assist in resolving banking issues.
Review bank fees and services for accuracy and potential cost savings.
Monitor banking platforms and treasury activity for timely and accurate execution of cash movements.
Assist with treasury-management systems, bank integrations, electronic payment processes, and automation initiatives.
Prepare cash and treasury-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end close activities.
Reconcile intercompany cash activity and coordinate with accounting teams to resolve differences.
Reconcile cash application activity between banking platforms, accounts receivable systems, and the general ledger.
Prepare daily and weekly cash-position reports for management.
Prepare reporting on cash receipts, cash application, unapplied cash, bank activity, and other treasury metrics.
Assist with cash-flow and working-capital analysis.
Provide treasury schedules and supporting documentation for audits, lenders, and other external parties.
Maintain organized records in accordance with company policies and document-retention requirements.
Assist with developing and improving treasury policies, procedures, controls, and reporting.
Follow established approval requirements and segregation-of-duties controls.
Help prevent payment fraud by verifying banking changes and reviewing unusual transactions.
Assist with implementing treasury-management tools, bank integrations, and automated reconciliation processes.
Identify opportunities to automate and improve cash application, bank reconciliation, cash reporting, and treasury processes.
Identify opportunities to improve cash visibility, forecast accuracy, reconciliation processes, and treasury efficiency.
Develop and monitor processes designed to reduce unapplied cash, improve application accuracy, and accelerate cash conversion.
Establish and monitor key metrics related to cash application, unapplied cash, reconciliation timeliness, and treasury activity.
Perform other treasury and accounting duties as assigned.
