About The Position

Protective Industrial Products, Inc. (PIP), a leading global provider of personal protective equipment to industrial and retail customers has an immediate opening in their Finance Organization. The position will be based in Latham, NY. This position will report to the Director of Global Accounting. The Corporate Staff Accountant plays an integral part in the general accounting, policy implementation and month-end processes for our Latham, NY Global Shared Service organization. The position maintains and controls certain General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that include booking of daily transactions, performing analytical work and thorough review of financial records. The position will also support the framework creation of an Sox controlled environment. PIP is currently strengthening our control environment to support the expanded growth with our recent acquisitions. The ideal candidate will have firm knowledge of basic accounting principles, attention to detail, strong initiative to identify opportunities for improvement as well as design and implement improvements. The candidate should have experience in an Sox environment with public accounting experience. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work with a broad range of people with different backgrounds and perspectives, as well the ability to comfortably work with people in other functions or external to the company (vendors and customers).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in mid to large company.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
  • Strong communication skills, detail oriented with the ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to apply consistent standards while adapting to frequent changes in Company requirements.
  • Flexible and able to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, and Word skills are required.
  • Dependable, organized, and professional individual that is self-motivated and owns required tasks.
  • Values and maintains confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in a Sox Environment
  • Experience with SAP, Eclipse or similar ERP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department - Shared Services group
  • Perform intercompany A/R and A/P reconciliations
  • Perform trial balance mapping and loading, as well as check procedures to ensure proper posting and consolidation
  • Perform month end uploads of trial balances, reconciliation and intercompany eliminations for our over 140 trial balances in to our consolidation software.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations across several entities.
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements, footnote disclosures, and reporting packages by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Complete other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
