Requirements

  • Proven success in corporate sales, hospitality sales, event sales, or a comparable business development role.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, build a pipeline, and meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Confidence initiating conversations, developing relationships, presenting solutions, negotiating, and closing business.
  • Experience managing client details, competing deadlines, and service expectations after a sale.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with other departments.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend networking events or client commitments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with event venues, group rooms, hotels, or meetings is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with Caterease, Social Tables, and StayNTouch is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new corporate business through outbound outreach, referrals, networking, community involvement, and targeted prospecting.
  • Develop relationships with decision-makers, meeting planners, businesses, organizations, and referral partners.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective business; track activity, follow up consistently, and advance opportunities toward a decision.
  • Respond promptly to corporate inquiries and convert qualified leads into bookings.
  • Conduct discovery conversations and site tours to understand each client’s goals, budget, and decision process.
  • Create tailored proposals for corporate events, meetings, group rooms, and related services.
  • Negotiate terms, prepare accurate contracts, and close business while protecting revenue and meeting client needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contracted clients from the initial inquiry through event completion.
  • Lead planning conversations and document event details, including timelines, room setups, food and beverage selections, and other logistics.
  • Maintain accurate client records and event documentation, and communicate final details to the teams responsible for execution.
  • Address client questions and concerns promptly, professionally, and with a focus on finding solutions.
  • Develop relationships that generate repeat business, referrals, and opportunities across Hotel Covington and The Madison Event Center.
  • Represent the properties at networking events, trade shows, sales calls, and other business development opportunities.
  • Monitor market activity and identify new industries, organizations, and partnerships to pursue.
  • Maintain accurate sales records, pipeline updates, forecasts, and performance reports.
  • Assist with client billing, accounts receivable, and other sales responsibilities as needed.
