About The Position

MedPro Group is an industry-leading Berkshire Hathaway insurance company dedicated to protecting healthcare professionals. In this role, the Corporate & Regulatory Counsel will consult on legal issues and implications of business decisions, design and implement standardized contracting processes, create and maintain contract templates and policies, and draft, review, negotiate, and manage vendor agreements. The position involves working with the procurement team to improve efficiency and reduce risk, drafting product forms and other documents to support business divisions, and providing legal advice and solutions to various functional areas within the company. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant performance of company objectives and may involve other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • JD degree from an ABA approved law school and licensed at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • PC literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and Lexis or Westlaw.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong legal research and analysis skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to analyze legal issues from the business perspective.
  • Ability to handle many, varied legal issues at the same time in a fast-pace environment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments in a high-urgency setting.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-8 years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience in insurance and/or reinsurance preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary and work from the Fort Wayne home office weekly on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Consult on the legal issues and implications of potential business decisions and initiatives, providing counsel on general business and legal issues.
  • Design and implement standardized contracting processes and workflows.
  • Create and maintain contract templates, playbooks, negotiation guidelines, and procurement policies.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of vendor agreements.
  • Work with the procurement team to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and streamline vendor onboarding and contracting processes.
  • Possess strong drafting skills and create product forms, and other documents as appropriate to support business divisions and to address corporate policy/compliance issues.
  • Work with a cross functional team to facilitate proactive and compliant performance of all company objectives.
  • Provide legal advice, strategies, and solutions to all business functional areas, including Market Management, Marketing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations/IT, Finance, PS&RS, Claims, and Human Resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
