About The Position

MedPro Group is an industry-leading Berkshire Hathaway insurance company seeking a Corporate & Regulatory Counsel. This role involves consulting on the legal issues and implications of potential business decisions and initiatives, providing counsel on general business and legal issues. The position requires strong drafting skills to create contracts, product forms, and other documents to support business divisions and address corporate policy/compliance issues. The counsel will work with a cross-functional team to facilitate proactive and compliant performance of all company objectives and provide legal advice, strategies, and solutions to various business functional areas, including Market Management, Marketing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations/IT, Finance, PS&RS, Claims, and Human Resources. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • JD degree from an ABA approved law school and licensed at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • PC literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and Lexis or Westlaw.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong legal research and analysis skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to analyze legal issues from the business perspective.
  • Ability to handle many, varied legal issues at the same time in a fast-pace environment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments in a high-urgency setting.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary and work from the Fort Wayne home office weekly on a hybrid schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-8 years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience in insurance and/or reinsurance preferred.
