About The Position

Responsible for product quality assessment and improvement. Work with local Quality Managers, Process Metallurgists, Operations Management and employees to improve the product quality through standard practices, process control and understanding customer requirements. Provides technical assistance and quality support to the Quality and Operations management group for all Universal Facilities. This position will report to the Corporate Director Quality Assurance. Position requires solid Quality System Management skills and abilities to provide technical advice and direction to the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum experience level is 5 plus years in a metal manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Follows all Safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be trustworthy in all areas of profession and personal performance.
  • Regular interface with local General Managers, Quality Managers, Operations, and technical groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Metallurgical or materials science background is preferred.
  • Good, solid foundation of technical knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze data and make critical decisions.
  • Aerospace Quality Standard and/or Nadcap experience.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing methods and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that technical standards and work instructions are followed to ensure product quality requirements are implemented and followed.
  • Lead customer and regulatory audits, including AS9100 and Nadcap HT and MTL, at all facilities.
  • Facilitate APQP activities - FMEA, Control Plans, etc.
  • Perform internal and external audits on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action sessions to ensure effective completion.
  • Review and provide direction to augment local Level II Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving.
  • Remain flexible with daily activities to handle any emergency issues as they arrive.
  • Travel as necessary to all USAP locations and suppliers.
  • Provide support as deemed necessary to allow the Quality assurance department to function properly.
  • Report all witness incidents involving injuries, pills, fires, property damage, and near misses to appropriate Management.
  • Perform other related work, as required.
