About The Position

This is a high-impact corporate purchasing role responsible for both advanced sourcing on new programs and strategic supplier management across existing production. You'll work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to ensure successful program launches, negotiate commercial agreements, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier performance. Requirements

  • 5+ years of purchasing experience within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of APQP, supplier launches, and automotive program management
  • Experience leading supplier negotiations and commercial discussions
  • Knowledge of automotive purchasing processes and OEM expectations
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting plastic injection molding or automotive interior manufacturing
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality requirements
  • Experience with MRO purchasing and supplier development
  • Background in cost reduction, PPV analysis, and strategic sourcing
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Materials Management, or a related discipline

Responsibilities

  • Lead purchasing activities throughout the APQP process for new product launches
  • Source new components, tooling, and raw materials while meeting aggressive program timelines
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding and ensure all documentation is completed prior to launch
  • Support engineering changes by negotiating commercial impacts and supplier agreements
  • Participate in supplier launch meetings and ensure successful production readiness
  • Present purchasing updates and program status during Gate Reviews
  • Prepare and manage RFQs for new components and production requirements
  • Evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing, and recommend sourcing strategies
  • Negotiate long-term agreements, commercial terms, and cost improvements
  • Build strong supplier relationships focused on quality, delivery, innovation, and cost competitiveness
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers and leverage purchasing power across multiple facilities
  • Lead ongoing direct material and MRO cost reduction initiatives
  • Drive PPV improvements through strategic negotiations and supplier collaboration
  • Monitor rebate programs and long-term purchasing agreements
  • Analyze procurement data and recommend opportunities to improve overall purchasing performance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement function
  • Monitor supplier quality, delivery, and overall performance
  • Support supplier corrective actions and escalation activities
  • Conduct supplier business reviews and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Ensure supplier compliance with automotive quality standards and purchasing requirements
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve supply chain issues while minimizing operational risk
