About The Position

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Corporate Payroll Director to join our office in Sylmar, CA. As a Corporate Payroll Director at Tutor Perini Corp., reporting to Director of Payroll, you will be responsible for the management, processing, and distribution of payroll, payroll tax, and union reporting. This role involves managing the process of multi-state in-house daily, weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls for 37 companies in a centralized processing department to meet determined deadlines. You will ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory reporting requirements and guidelines, maintain internal controls and compliance for payroll SOX internal and external audits, and oversee the set-up, submission, and reconciliation of periodic and quarterly tax deposits. You will also assist the tax department in resolving discrepancies on periodic, quarterly, annual tax reports and amendments, and manage the set-up of union rates and benefits, submission, and reconciliation of union payments in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Additionally, you will work closely with IT in project implementations, testing, custom reporting, and set-up of data elements and processes in Workday and JD Edwards (JDE). You will liaise with Human Resources, Field Payroll, IT, Corporate Accounting, Corporate Audit, Business Unit Finance personnel, and local union representatives, and mentor and develop staff, while identifying and implementing process improvements.

Requirements

  • Degree in business, finance, or related field
  • 15 years of payroll experience in a large multi-state/multi-FEIN organization
  • 10 years of progressive management experience
  • 10 years of construction union payroll experience
  • 10 years of in-house payroll processing
  • Basic accounting experience
  • Proficient knowledge in labor and tax compliance related to payroll and union payroll
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in excel
  • Positive and professional demeanor, with a highly customer service focus
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future
