About The Position

The Banking and Financial Services Regulatory Paralegal provides substantive legal and project support to attorneys in the firm’s Financial Services Group. The paralegal will work on a broad range of banking and financial services regulatory matters involving U.S. and non-U.S. banking organizations, nonbank financial institutions, fintech companies, asset managers and other regulated entities.

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of solid paralegal or comparable legal experience, preferably involving financial services regulation, banking, administrative law, government enforcement, public policy, or other regulatory matters.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong legal and factual research skills, excellent organizational and project management abilities, and the ability to monitor, synthesize and communicate complex regulatory, legislative, and policy developments.
The successful candidate should also demonstrate comfort learning and working with new technologies and a willingness to develop proficiency in firm-approved artificial intelligence and legal technology tools.
The ability to critically assess technology-assisted work product, verify outputs, protect confidential information, and exercise sound judgment regarding appropriate use is essential.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with regulatory or government materials, legal research platforms, regulatory trackers, or similar information-management tools is preferred.
Prior experience with legal AI tools is helpful.

Responsibilities

Monitor and track regulatory, legislative and policy developments affecting banks, financial institutions, fintech companies and other regulated entities, including proposed and final rules, agency guidance and other actions by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Department of the Treasury, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and other relevant federal and state authorities.
Monitor executive actions, congressional hearings and legislation, speeches, testimony, enforcement actions, supervisory materials, and other significant governmental and public policy developments relating to banking and financial services.
Prepare clear, concise summaries of significant regulatory, legislative, and policy developments for attorneys and, as appropriate, clients.
Develop, maintain, and update regulatory trackers and calendars, including rulemaking developments, comment deadlines, effective and compliance dates, regulatory applications and other matter-specific deadlines.
Conduct legal, regulatory, legislative, corporate and factual research relating to financial institutions, banking laws and regulations, regulatory policy and specific client matters, including research regarding the regulatory history and treatment of particular issues, transactions, institutions, and activities.
Assist attorneys with the preparation and submission of regulatory applications, notices, comment letters, correspondence and other administrative and regulatory filings with federal and state banking and financial regulatory authorities, including conducting cite checking, fact checking, source verification, proofreading, and related quality-control review.
Coordinate the collection, organization and review of materials required for regulatory applications and other administrative and regulatory filings, including supporting documentation, exhibits, certifications, and other filing materials.
Support regulatory diligence for transactions involving banks, fintech companies, financial institutions, asset managers and other regulated businesses, including researching regulatory status, licenses, enforcement history, and other publicly available information.
Prepare chronologies, background and briefing materials, research memoranda, charts, presentations, exhibits, and other work product for attorney review and for meetings with regulators, government officials, clients and other stakeholders.
Organize and maintain matter files, precedent materials, regulatory submissions, agency correspondence and practice-area resources, including databases or repositories of agency actions, regulatory precedents, applications, comment letters, enforcement materials, and other relevant know-how.
Assist with client alerts, presentations, publications and other practice-group materials, including conducting research and preparing supporting materials.
Communicate and coordinate with clients, regulators, government agencies, local counsel, consultants, service providers, and other external parties to obtain information, documentation, and filing materials.
Coordinate and manage multiple workstreams and deadlines across matters, follow up on outstanding items and provide proactive status updates to attorneys and other team members.
Comply with department and firm administrative procedures and policies.
Assist with department projects as needed and perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Legal Services Manager.
Identify opportunities to improve existing workflows through technology and AI-enabled tools and collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, practice technology, and other firm resources to support adoption of effective and responsible technology-enabled processes.
Participate in required training and maintain proficiency with firm-approved AI and legal technology tools relevant to the role, including understanding their capabilities and limitations.
Adhere to all firm policies and requirements regarding the responsible use of artificial intelligence and other technologies, including requirements relating to client confidentiality, data security, privilege, accuracy, and appropriate human oversight.
