About The Position

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking an accomplished and trusted local-government professional to serve as its next Corporate Officer. As the statutory officer responsible for corporate administration, you will provide authoritative and impartial advice to the Board, Committees, Commissions, CAO, senior leadership and staff. You will lead the Legislative Services Division and provide executive oversight of Board and committee processes, corporate records, access to information and privacy, elections and other democratic processes. You will also play a central role in strengthening governance systems, supporting informed public decision-making and ensuring that the CVRD’s legislative responsibilities are carried out accurately, transparently and with integrity.

Requirements

Minimum six (6) years of progressive local-government experience in legislative services, governance or public administration, including leadership.
Strong knowledge of the Local Government Act, Community Charter, FOIPPA and meeting procedures.
Experience overseeing preparation of agendas, minutes, bylaws and official records for Boards or Councils.
Experience with corporate records, FOIPPA compliance and information-management programs.
Experience supervising staff.
Proven leadership, discretion, sound judgment and political acumen.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Relevant certifications are an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
