Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a highly motivated Assistant to join the team in our Washington, D.C. office. This role supports attorneys in the Business Law and Litigation practice groups by providing high-quality legal and administrative assistance essential to daily operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced capabilities in judgment, critical thinking, project management, and organization, along with strong proofreading and formatting skills. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to confidentiality, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A willingness to learn and thrive in a collaborative team environment is essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an administrative support role required; law firm experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting business law and/or litigation attorneys preferred
  • Experience working in InTapp, Chrome River, and NetDocs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys by providing executive level administrative assistance through the performance of complex secretarial and clerical duties including: meeting planning and coordination, client communication, and scheduling, etc.
  • Create, organize and maintain electronic client files, follow up on pending matters
  • Provide document production services including styling and formatting of documents
  • Submit conflicts check(s) and new client matter information through OPEN; prepare engagement letters and assist with client billing as required
  • Prepare expense report reimbursement and check requests in Chrome River
  • Set up meetings as requested, ensuring all required materials are organized in advance and greet clients/guests as necessary
  • Respond appropriately to emails, telephone calls, letters and/or visitors; use resources to resolve and answer routine questions
