About The Position

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. First Citizens Bank offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands on work experience while creating a talent pipeline for the Bank. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. Internal Audit interns will participate in an immersive and professional development program introducing interns to Internal Audit and First Citizens Bank. Interns will have the opportunity to learn alongside seasoned and experienced audit professionals to learn the foundations of Internal Audit and auditing processes. This program targets exceptional rising juniors and rising seniors and serves as a talent pipeline where successful interns may receive an offer to return and join Internal Audit. We are looking for candidates who are within a commutable drivable distance to our Raleigh, NC office.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

Nice To Haves

  • BS/BA degree candidate: Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Data Analytic, Information Systems, or Technology related degree
  • 3.0 minimum GPA
  • Strong desire to learn and grow

Responsibilities

  • Develop core skills focused on internal audit practices, audit methodology, and technology based systems
  • Contribute to the work of an audit team in delivering their planned audit coverage, including testing of key processes and internal controls across the organization
  • Be part of a dynamic team with interesting audit related projects.
  • Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, strategy, process review and improvement, as well as technology enhancements and support.
  • Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking and community service events.
  • Have a dedicated internal audit administrative manager and audit manager to help you navigate audit, the bank and the internship program.
  • Work on a project and present your learnings and results at program completion.
  • Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline your accomplishments and experience during the internship
