About The Position

The Xcel Energy Inclusion and Corporate Impact team plays a critical role in advancing business strategy through corporate social responsibility (CSR), fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging, and driving measurable community impact. By aligning social investments with enterprise priorities, the team delivers long-term value for employees, customers, and the communities we serve. Central to this work is the stewardship of the Xcel Energy Foundation, which serves as a strategic platform for corporate philanthropy, community investment, and stakeholder engagement. Through the Foundation, the team strengthens workforce pipelines, expands nonprofit and community partnerships, and increases employee engagement—positioning Xcel Energy as a purpose-driven organization committed to sustainable, equitable outcomes. The team leads and evaluates a comprehensive portfolio that includes Business Resource Group (BRG) engagement, workforce development initiatives, employee giving, volunteerism, and community partnerships. Success is measured through defined metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), such as employee participation rates, grantmaking impact, nonprofit partnership outcomes, and community reach. These insights inform strategy, ensure accountability, and enhance the effectiveness of investments. To support this work, the Corporate Impact team is seeking a college-level intern to support data-driven projects that advance employee giving, nonprofit partnerships, and community investment strategies. This paid internship is designed for a student with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an interest in corporate social responsibility. The intern will work with CSR data systems—including CyberGrants and Power BI—to support data management, reporting, and analysis of key metrics and KPIs related to employee engagement, grantmaking, and volunteerism. This role offers hands-on experience translating data into insights, supporting impact measurement, and helping inform strategic decision-making across the Foundation and Corporate Impact portfolio.

Requirements

  • Current student, Sophomore or higher
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Science, Business Administration, Corporate Social Responsibility, or similar.
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organized, and have good communication skills.
  • Experience with Excel Microsoft Office, Data management projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior volunteer or work experience in a professional office setting
  • Management of data projects, identification of inputs with several stakeholders, ability to interpret requirements and define best-in class-solution.
  • Experience in data processing, identification of trends, generation of recommendations, and KPI measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Support foundation data collection and analysis aligned with strategic goals and performance requirements of the internal programs.
  • Support development of data dashboard and consolidation of current data sources and inputs to manage, track and measure program's key performance indicators.
  • Complete data entry, data management and metric reporting in the Foundation’s online portal, CyberGrants.
  • Support implementation of successful annual workplace giving campaign including donor support, data entry, and input into the key performance.
  • Support accounting and finance teams on audit and financial processes.
  • Support employee giving programs which include but are not limited to giving campaigns, Dollars for Doing, matching gifts, volunteer paid time off, sponsorships and in-kind donations; help create process documents and job aids for these.
  • Assist in monitoring and responding to emails and voicemails that come in on shared inboxes and hotlines.
