About The Position

To fill a vacancy in the General Manager’s role within a property on a short term basis. To provide a degree of stability to residents, staff and community. This role requires travel across Western Canada (Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Calgary & Edmonton).

Requirements

  • Graduate of a certificate/diploma or degree in nursing, social work, gerontology, hospitality or business.
  • A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in the retirement operations or hospitality operations industry.
  • Experience in progressively responsible roles where ability in leadership, interpersonal skills, operations, and customer service has been demonstrated.
  • Demonstrated self-direction, accountability, ability to identify and report issues, and proven leader skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the provision of a safe, secure environment for all residents and comply with all levels of legislation.
  • Ensure the residents’ well-being and comfort are prioritized, identifying decision-making points in reference to operations to ensure the property meets the Company’s expectations for a successful and profitable Retirement Residence.
  • Ensure that quality care, resident life safety, and services to residents are maintained.
  • Ensure that all resident/family/staff/community concerns are addressed immediately and directed to the Director, Operations & Sales (DOS).
  • Ensure that all regulatory inspection reports are reported to the DOS.
  • Lead Marketing Management Operations Meetings and provide reports to the DOS.
  • Represent Management at regular council meetings as required, review minutes and respond to requests.
  • Gather, identify, and decision points in regards to the operations of the property to report to DOS.
  • Ensure that a solid foundation of day-to-day operations is maintained.
  • Implement, evaluate, and control payroll information practices for the Home to ensure policies are administered fairly and interpreted correctly by all staff.
  • Administer Petty Cash funds for the Home, keeping records as per the Company’s policy and procedure, and submit petty cash vouchers monthly to Head Office.
  • Ensure the continuum of AP & AR adhering to the P&P.
  • Monitor the occupancy of the property on a daily basis.
  • Implement programs to attract and retain residents.
  • Conduct personal visits in the absence of a Sales Consultant/CRM.
  • Complete RTA/CHIP agreements in accordance with company P&P.
  • Make available to Head Office all necessary reports on a timely basis, including reports, letters, or dealings with any town officials (e.g., Health Inspections, Fire Reports, Building Inspections) or any matter deemed the responsibility of the Parent Company.
  • Act as a support to staff in the area of human resources or labor relations and report any difficulties to their DOS.
  • Report all incidents that require disciplinary action, including suspension and termination, to their DOS.
  • Report all major deficiencies to the physical plant or any emergencies to their DOS.
  • Be familiar with CSH P&P and direct any non-compliance to DOS.
  • Be familiar with RHRA and work in compliance with the regulations.
  • Understand the lines of authority, flexibility, and communications within the Company and use them effectively to meet responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate accountability for own actions.
  • Be aware of employee and supervisor’s responsibilities and follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents.
  • Be alert to, remedy, and promptly report all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy.
  • Conduct themselves in accordance with employee conduct policy while living on site.
