About The Position

This is the second working level of the engineering series. Incumbents perform moderate to complex engineering tasks with limited supervision and lead routine engineering projects. This role has no direct reports. The Corporate Engineer - Electrical role focuses on controls programming, configuration, integration, networking, and communication services using equipment and software from various HMI, SCADA, and PLC manufacturers, as well as various communication protocols. It also involves creating and planning designs for electrical machine systems, performing testing and validation of electrical machine designs and systems, and assisting with investigations and concepts of new automation solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering Electrical, Mechanical, CS&E, Controls/Automation Engineering or related technical field
  • 3 - 6 years’ experience

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a role model to others by ensuring that all project work is completed in accordance with our safety policies.
  • Determines customer’s needs by identifying problems and safety concerns.
  • Develop and evaluate solutions thereby defining project scope.
  • Coordinates, prepares and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project based on direction provided from manager.
  • Interfaces with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification.
  • Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacts with vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery.
  • Manages project costs, project scheduling, and communicates pertinent data to appropriate areas for engineering projects which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities.
  • Completes Project Closeout and Postmortem Analysis for appropriate projects.
  • Actively participates on continuous improvement / kaizen teams and leads teams as requested.
  • Secures and maintains knowledge of current industry practices as they may apply to Amcor products and equipment.
  • Assists with installation, checkout, start-up and training as necessary.
  • Supports projects and initiatives in designated technical area of expertise.
  • Understands engineering function as a whole and recognizes how their works affects the outcome of projects.
  • Utilizes communication skills to effectively communication with cross functional teams.
  • Actively is seeking to understand different communication styles and developing best practices for managing challenges and difficult situations that may involve multiple parties.
  • Sets personal and supports team goals with the strategic direction of the business and helps communicate the message to others.
  • Is a ‘self-starter’ who initiates, supports, and implements a cross section of different projects.

  • Utilizes consistent and organized methodologies to manage projects and project spend.
  • Able to understands where differences lie in final project savings number.
  • Creates, and plans programming, configuration, integration, networking and communication services using equipment and software from a variety of HMI, SCADA, and PLC manufacturers, as well as various communication protocols.
  • Performs testing and validation of machine instrumentation with the controls package.
  • Fosters integration and development of team IT resources related to engineering functions such as PLC/machine control, HMI function and edge device use.
  • Creates and reviews technologies to be used for future applications and extensions of current architecture.
  • Creates, and plans designs for electrical machine systems.
  • Performs testing and validation of electrical machine designs and systems.
  • Performs engineering calculations to support design and electrical engineering work.
  • Creates and reviews technical drawings, plans, and specifications utilizing computer software.
  • Assist in investigations and concepts of new automation solutions to solve manufacturing issues.
  • Develops test plans to burndown risk for automation projects and set requirements for FATs and SATs.
  • Performs testing and validation of small-scale automation systems.
  • Reviews technical drawings, plans, proposals, RFQs, RFQ responses, and specifications for small-scale automation work.
