BBVA is a global company with over 160 years of history, operating in more than 25 countries and serving over 80 million customers. We are a team of over 121,000 professionals with diverse backgrounds, including financiers, legal experts, data scientists, developers, engineers, and designers. This role is within the Global Risk Management (GRM) unit of a top European Bank with a growing U.S. presence. The Senior Vice President (SVP) holds a principal credit adjudication role, exercising independent credit judgment across a wide array of corporate banking products, industries, and transaction structures. The GRM unit is responsible for the independent underwriting of corporate clients, evaluating both counterparties and individual transactions before approval. This includes ongoing portfolio risk monitoring throughout the client relationship lifecycle, encompassing periodic reviews, amendments, waivers, restructurizations, and continuous assessment of credit conditions. Consistent with the Bank's relationship-driven corporate banking model, the team underwrites all credit exposures arising from corporate client relationships, rather than specializing in a single product. Therefore, SVPs are expected to evaluate a broad range of financing and risk products and possess the versatility to support clients across multiple industry sectors as business needs evolve. This position requires a seasoned credit professional with 10-20 years of experience, capable of independently underwriting complex corporate borrowers, assessing transaction structures, interpreting legal documentation, and presenting well-supported recommendations to credit committees. Successful candidates must be able to transition across industry sectors as portfolio and business priorities require, while maintaining consistent underwriting standards and sound credit judgment.
