About The Position

This role will serve as product counsel for strategic initiatives related to Amazon Leo's consumer products and services. The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for counseling Amazon Leo's product marketing, engineering, compliance, and operations teams on a wide range of issues across their consumer and residential business. The role involves working directly with the business to handle legal issues in business-centric ways and develop processes that address risk while allowing the business flexibility and freedom to quickly develop services that prioritize and delight customers. The position requires providing comprehensive legal counsel for consumer product and service strategic initiatives, developing flexible legal frameworks that balance risk management with business innovation, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to support Amazon Leo's expansion goals. Additionally, the role involves creating processes that enable swift product development while maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting strategic initiatives with nuanced legal guidance. The work environment is dynamic and impactful, requiring collaboration across multiple teams to navigate complex legal landscapes, engaging with product marketing, engineering, and operations teams, and translating intricate legal requirements into actionable strategies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal experience
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

• Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
• Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
• Experience in managing multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
• Experience advising on consumer-facing product launches, including privacy, marketing, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
• Knowledge of telecommunications, satellite, or broadband regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCC, ITU, or international equivalents) a plus
• Experience counseling engineering and product teams on data privacy, consumer protection, and compliance matters in a technology-driven organization
