As a Corporate Counsel, you'll be supporting Harrison Street’s real estate investment and asset management activities across traditional and alternative asset classes, including joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, developments, and operating matters.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with admission in good standing to at least one state bar (California preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate transactions at a top-tier law firm or in-house with a real estate investment manager, developer, operator, or other institutional platform.
  • Proven track record of independently handling complex real estate transactions.
  • Experience managing transaction processes and coordinating with internal business teams, counterparties, lenders, consultants, and outside counsel.
  • Background in commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, financings, development projects, and general real estate transactional matters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, financings, developments, and restructurings across a variety of asset types.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, operating agreements, loan documents, NDAs, and related ancillary agreements.
  • Oversee and coordinate legal due diligence processes, including title, survey, zoning, environmental, and organizational review.
  • Manage and supervise outside counsel across multiple transactions and ongoing portfolio matters.
  • Partner closely with transactions, asset management, and capital markets teams to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Support the legal department’s knowledge management initiatives and assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices.
