Research, analyze and provide legal advice to business units on complex legal and compliance matters related to Company’s operations, product and strategic initiatives, particularly in the areas of privacy and data security and artificial intelligence utilization and governance (primarily in the U.S. but also internationally as applicable). Provide legal counsel and guidance regarding complex transactions involving sophisticated counterparties and external service providers, including professional services agreements, licenses, and other strategic sourcing agreements. Assist with legal review and risk mitigation tactics regarding all aspects of client interactions, including consumer disclosures, privacy notices, terms and conditions, identity verification and authentication, e-signatures, marketing, privacy and data use, and customer service. Work closely with the Deputy General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer, Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, and key business partners to provide high level legal support on a variety of initiatives. Monitor evolving laws that may impact the business and help design and implement compliant solutions, particularly in the areas of privacy and data security and artificial intelligence. Serve as a legal subject matter expert on matters related to privacy and data security, artificial intelligence, marketing, and strategic sourcing transactions. Contribute to team efforts by timely meeting commitments and working collaboratively with minimal supervision. Periodically assist with diverse high demand legal projects outside normal area of focus. Manage outside counsel within budget. Some domestic or international travel may be required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree plus license to practice law in one or more states. A current member of the Missouri Bar or an ability to become a member of the Missouri Bar within six months.
  • At least five years of legal experience at a large law firm, corporate legal department, or similar.
  • Detail-oriented focus, with demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate and persuade a wide range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with clients, peers, and external partners, delivering thoughtful, customer-focused legal guidance that supports business objectives.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and work initiatives at the same time.
  • Strong business acumen and an eagerness to partner with internal business colleagues to solve business issues, including a nuanced ability to assess and mitigate risks.
  • A positive attitude, a collegial approach, and an instinct to go “above and beyond” to achieve optimal outcomes for the Company.
