About The Position

The Corporate Counsel will provide legal expertise in matters relating to the operation of Aya Healthcare with a focus on handling employment and wage and hour matters. This position requires exceptional communication and detail orientation in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Must be admitted to the State Bar of California and in good standing
  • Must have J.D. from ABA-accredited law school
  • 5+ years' experience in employment and wage and hour matters
  • Strong research and project management / implementation skills
  • Ability to work accurately in fast-paced environment and maintain a sense of urgency
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, staffing, or services industry a plus
  • Preferred prior experience at a mid to large sized law firm, in-house legal department or some combination thereof

Responsibilities

  • Counsel internal clients on various nationwide employment matters, including wage and hour issues, reasonable accommodations, internal investigations, benefits, and employee classification;
  • Draft, review and provide guidance on employment and HR-related policies and procedures;
  • Provide counsel and guidance for the successful defense of lawsuits, claims, charges, filed against the Company; provide informed cost benefit analysis when identifying risks; and select and recommend alternative methods of dispute resolution, when appropriate.
  • Monitoring new developments and emerging issues in various employment and wage and hour laws, assessing related legal risks, and advising various business departments on these
  • Provide timely, business-focused advice to all departments, including compliance, human resources, marketing, and IT to achieve business objectives, mitigate risks, and meet legal
