We are seeking a Corporate Counsel II to join our legal team and serve as a trusted partner to teams across Jack Henry. In this role, you will help navigate legal, regulatory, contractual, and business issues involving data, technology, information security, privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. You will work closely with Product, Technology, Data, Information Security, Risk, Compliance, Procurement, and Operations teams to provide practical legal advice that supports business objectives while appropriately managing risk. This is an opportunity to work on a dynamic mix of data governance, technology, cybersecurity, privacy, AI, and commercial matters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. We are looking for a practical, business-minded attorney who enjoys learning the business, building strong relationships, and helping teams find solutions to complex issues. The right candidate understands that effective legal support is not about saying "no," but about helping the business make informed decisions and move forward responsibly. This position is a hybrid role requiring at least 1 days per week in any of the following office locations: Allen, TX / Overland Park, KS / Monett, MO or Springfield, MO.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor or Master of Laws degree.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm or in-house practice.
  • Must have combination experience in each of the following: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Governance, Data Privacy, Incident Management.
  • Strong experience in Legal Writing and drafting.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for meetings, events, and or training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in advising senior leadership.
  • Experience using technology to improve the quality of legal review.

Responsibilities

  • Addresses legal issues that arise in the day-to-day operations of the company, receiving guidance from experienced attorneys as needed.
  • Develops a breadth of legal knowledge and practical skills, including legal writing, legal research, contract interpretation, negotiation, advocacy, effective client communication, and client relationship management.
  • Starts to develop specialization in specific areas of the law.
  • Develops a general understanding of the business operations of the Company.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope and assignments that are often routine in nature.
  • Handles simple legal matters with little to no instruction, including legal research assignments, reviewing and preparing routine legal documents, and interpreting laws and regulations.
  • Determines a course of action based on precedent and other guidelines, modifying processes and methods as required.
  • Increases legal knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, consuming industry publications and other media, and utilizing mentors within and outside of the legal department.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
