Corporate Controller

OmnidianSeattle, WA

About The Position

The Controller is Omnidian’s senior accounting leader and a core member of the leadership team. This isn’t a back-office role. You’ll partner directly with the CFO and business leaders across the company to build scalable accounting infrastructure, drive accounting strategy, and ensure Omnidian is audit-ready and transaction-ready at every stage of growth. You’ll own the accounting function end-to-end — consolidations, close, compliance, audit, tax, and systems — while also serving as a forward-looking thought partner on how AI and automation can structurally improve how we operate. You will manage and develop a team of 4–8, including the Assistant Controller. This role is for someone who is technically excellent, builds genuine relationships across the business, and sees accounting not as a reporting function but as a strategic enabler of growth.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience; 3+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
  • Deep US GAAP expertise: consolidations, intercompany transactions, revenue recognition under ASC 606, and international subsidiary accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a high-growth, multi-entity environment — you’ve built systems that scale, not just maintained ones that existed.
  • Proven track record managing and developing accounting teams.
  • CPA required.
  • NetSuite proficiency; advanced Excel/Google Sheets.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a Series B–D company that went through a significant transaction — M&A, PE investment, debt raise, IPO, or similar — and understands what transaction-ready books actually require under due diligence conditions.
  • Prior exposure to service-based, field operations, or tech-enabled service businesses (electrical contractors, field service, SaaS, or similar).
  • Experience in clean energy, renewables, or sustainability-focused businesses.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools and automation in accounting workflows — not theoretical, but actually implemented.
  • Audit experience in a Big 4 or national firm environment.
  • International accounting experience (Australia or other English-speaking jurisdictions a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close for US and Australian entities with speed, accuracy, and continuous process improvement.
  • Prepare and own consolidated financial statements under US GAAP, including intercompany eliminations, multi-currency consolidation, and technical accounting positions.
  • Deliver timely, reliable reporting to the CFO, Board, and investors.
  • Own the external audit relationship and process; drive clean, on-time completions across all jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and continuously strengthen the internal control environment, building audit-ready accounting infrastructure appropriate for a company approaching a strategic transaction — whether that’s M&A, a PE recapitalization, a debt raise, or an IPO.
  • Manage compliance across sales, use, and property tax obligations in multiple states and internationally.
  • Ensure compliance with bank covenants and investor reporting requirements.
  • Lead the accounting technology roadmap — optimizing NetSuite, evaluating AI-native tools, and building automation into the close, reconciliation, and reporting workflows.
  • Actively identify and implement new methods that reduce manual effort and increase analytical value; bring genuine curiosity and urgency to this agenda.
  • Partner with FP&A, Engineering, and Operations on cross-functional system integration.
  • Manage and develop the accounting team, including the Assistant Controller; build a high-performance culture with clear accountability and genuine career development.
  • Serve as a trusted accounting partner to business leaders across Sales, Product, Operations, Legal, and HR — translating accounting realities into actionable guidance.
  • Partner with the CFO on M&A, debt financing, tax strategy, and investor relations as needed.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors on provisions, filings, and strategic tax planning.

Benefits

  • Family medical, dental, vision, disability
  • 401(k) administration and $1k match per year
  • Thoughtful paid time off
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave to all FTE employees (birthing and non-birthing) after 1 year
  • Four-week paid sabbatical leave after four years
  • Competitive total compensation package that includes monthly health insurance premiums, bonuses and long-term stock options for every employee
