About The Position

The Corporate Controller oversees all aspects of the company’s financial management and accounting operations. This includes directing corporate accounting activities, maintaining system integrity within the ERP and related financial platforms, and ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. The position is responsible for managing external audits, developing and enforcing internal control policies and accounting procedures, and overseeing select outsourced accounting functions. The Corporate Controller ensures compliance with GAAP, regulatory standards, and company policies while driving process improvements, operational efficiency, and financial transparency to support strategic business growth and decision-making.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in corporate treasury or finance roles, with a focus on cash management and accounts payable.
  • Expert software knowledge of MS Office Suite applications
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Significant experience with allocations of shared costs.
  • Understanding of the business case with an appreciation of financial/analytical issues and profit and loss implications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Dutchie and Metrc a plus but not required.
  • External audit experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the cannabis industry is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, ensuring the organizational structure, systems, and staffing are effectively aligned with departmental goals and company objectives.
  • Partners with the VP of Accounting and CFO to design, implement, and maintain accounting policies, control systems, and reporting structures that ensure financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Directs all transactional accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger, account reconciliations, balance sheet management, fixed assets, leases, intercompany eliminations, payroll accounting, liability accruals, insurance, and transactional tax filings.
  • Oversees and ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of monthly, quarterly, joint venture, and annual financial statements.
  • Leads the research and application of complex technical accounting matters to ensure ongoing compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages and continuously improve the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to support timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintains robust quality control over all financial transactions, reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting and tax filing requirements.
  • Develops, documents, and enhances business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency.
  • Supports corporate budgeting and forecasting processes by preparing and monitoring budgets, analyzing performance, and providing insights to executive leadership.
  • Maintains the integrity of the company’s accounting and ERP systems to ensure accurate, complete, and GAAP-compliant financial data.
  • Reconciles and manage fixed asset records, ensuring alignment with general ledger and depreciation schedules.
  • Oversees the preparation and analysis of annual corporate and divisional budgets and P&Ls, including variance analysis and recommendations for strategic improvements.
  • Conducts and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with all audit requirements and timely completion of state, federal, and income tax filings.
  • Ensures corporate compliance with registration, licensing, and payroll requirements across all jurisdictions in which the company operates.
  • Supports business development initiatives by conducting pricing analyses, evaluating indirect cost impacts, and providing financial modeling for new bids and proposals.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and training to Accounting and Finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepares and maintains financial and statistical reports to support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participates in mergers and acquisitions activities, including due diligence reviews, integration planning, and post-acquisition financial alignment.
  • Executes ad hoc projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
