Corporate Controller

TruliooVancouver, BC
CA$170,000 - CA$200,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Corporate Controller is a senior leadership hire and a critical partner to the CFO. This role owns the financial integrity of the business: the accounting infrastructure, the close process, the control environment, and the compliance posture across a dynamic, multi-entity, multi-national organization. You'll run the function with the discipline of a company preparing for a major liquidity event, while building at the pace and prioritization that a scaling business actually requires. This is not a maintenance role. The right person will build institutional-grade infrastructure on a thoughtful timeline, use AI and automation to run a lean and high-output team, and operate as a genuine business partner alongside FP&A and the CFO. Trulioo is at a stage where the accounting function needs to keep pace with strategic ambition. This will be a full-time, permanent position working out of the Vancouver office on a hybrid model (3 days per week in the office).

Requirements

  • CPA designation
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience
  • Meaningful time in high-growth technology businesses
  • Proficient with US GAAP
  • Working knowledge of IFRS
  • Deep experience with multi-entity, multi-national accounting structures, including intercompany, consolidation, and transfer pricing
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale a controls environment with public-company readiness as a long-term objective
  • Track record of running a tight, high-quality close process and managing accounting operations across AR, AP, billing, payroll, tax, and treasury
  • Hands-on experience with M&A accounting, including diligence support, purchase price allocation, and post-acquisition integration
  • Genuine, demonstrated use of AI and automation tools in accounting workflows
  • Strong data and systems literacy: design chart of accounts structures with an analytical purpose, govern transactional data with precision, and build the accounting layer to support product and segment profitability reporting
  • Strong operational instincts: manage by metrics, track cash cycle performance, and treat accounting as a function that directly supports business outcomes
  • Ability to partner effectively with FP&A: understand how the accounting function feeds planning and analysis, and optimize for that relationship
  • Experience with growth equity-backed companies and familiarity with the reporting and compliance expectations that come with sophisticated investors
  • Clear, direct communicator who can translate accounting complexity into plain language for business stakeholders and the CFO
  • A builder with the judgment to pace infrastructure investments appropriately: rigorous about what needs to be done now and practical about what can be sequenced

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close: accurate, on-time, and improving in efficiency over time.
  • Manage GL, journal entries, reconciliations, and technical GAAP accounting.
  • Own technical accounting policies for complex areas like equity compensation, capitalized development costs, and lease obligations.
  • Shape systems and process infrastructure for repeatable and scalable compliance.

  • Own payroll operations across jurisdictions, coordinating with HR for accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
  • Maintain cash visibility, support cash forecasting in partnership with FP&A, and manage banking relationships and operational cash management.
  • Oversee global tax compliance across jurisdictions, working with external advisors as necessary.
  • Manage the intercompany framework, ensure consolidations are clean and well-controlled, and keep the legal entity structure properly maintained.
  • Own the transfer pricing framework, working with tax advisors to ensure intercompany arrangements are properly documented, defensible, and aligned with evolving international standards.
  • Design and maintain a controls environment that is proportionate to the risk and complexity of the business and scalable to public company expectations.
  • Identify control gaps, close them methodically, and build a roadmap for audit readiness.
  • Own the external audit relationship: managing the process, coordinating deliverables, and ensuring accurate and efficient completion.
  • Ensure actuals are clean, timely, and structured to directly feed FP&A team's analysis and reporting.
  • Track operational and efficiency metrics that reflect accounting function performance, surface cash cycle insights, and engage with commercial and operational leaders as a credible financial voice.
  • Support corporate development activity with accounting diligence, purchase price allocation, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Own the Corporate Controller's relationship with the audit committee: preparing materials, presenting financial results and control environment updates, and fielding questions.
  • Actively apply AI tools to accounting workflows: automating reconciliations, accelerating close, improving accuracy, and reducing manual work.
  • Own the data and systems layer that makes the accounting function analytically useful, not just compliant.
  • Structure the chart of accounts intentionally for fast closing and supporting product-level and segment-level profitability analysis.
  • Ensure transactional data flows are accurate, well-governed, and organized to support slicing performance by relevant dimensions.
