Requirements

  • Masters’ Degree in a Healthcare field, required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a healthcare organization, five (5) of which must have been in a Compliance Leadership role.
  • Familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, human resources, audit, compliance procedures, laws and regulations is required.
  • Communicate effectively (both written and oral) with peers, staff, legal counsel, physicians, and Board (including large group presentations).
  • Must have the ability to lead, guide and direct the corporate-wide compliance program.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the regulatory rules and consequences of non-compliance, such as those for Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Requires an exceptional level of interpersonal skills, sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting and demonstrated continuing education to maintain best practices as a compliance expert, required.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in Compliance, Audit, and HIPAA functions through continuing education, seminars, trade associations, government contacts, etc.
  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) required.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Garnet Health Corporate Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues and concerns arising within the organization.
  • Collaborates with the Board of Directors and the CEO to ensure that all directors, officers and employees are properly educated about, and maintain compliance with, the applicable rules and regulations of State and Federal regulatory agencies, Garnet Health policies and procedures, and the Garnet Health Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Reports jointly to the CEO and the Board Audit & Compliance Committee, functions as the HIPAA Privacy Officer and provides supervision and direction to the Compliance Audit Manager.
