About The Position

This role sits within Corporate Communications, with a strong focus on internal communications, partnering closely with the People team and internal departments to plan and deliver clear, effective messaging. The Communications team leads internal and external communications across Calgary Airports, supporting business priorities, operational initiatives, and employee engagement. The team works across a wide range of projects, from employee communications and town halls to operations, infrastructure projects, and issue response. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of work, collaborate closely with others, and contribute to communications that are visible across the organization. The team works collaboratively, supports each other, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work that makes an impact.

Requirements

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC
  • 2–4 years of experience in a communications role (internal communications, corporate communications, or public-facing communications)
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations or journalism. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing communication strategies and plans
  • Writing experience across multiple formats, including internal communications, presentations, and digital content
  • Experience building relationships and working with internal stakeholders and/or external partners across multiple teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to create polished, presentation-ready materials

  • Experience in public sector, post-secondary, or non-profit environments
  • Experience supporting employee communications or engagement initiatives (e.g., internal campaigns, town halls, workforce communications)
  • Exposure to issues management, media relations, or reputation management

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of internal communication strategies and plans (e.g., employee updates, internal website content, town halls, and employee engagement initiatives)
  • Partner with the People team and internal departments to plan and deliver communications that support employee engagement and organizational priorities
  • Write and develop a range of external and internal communication materials including announcements and advisories, executive presentations, speeches, and digital content (intranet, external website, and social media)
  • Support communications related to airport operations (e.g., accessibility, parking, commercial/retail updates, infrastructure projects) by translating complex topics into clear, accessible messaging
  • Contribute to issues and brand management, including drafting messaging and supporting responses for high-visibility or sensitive situations
  • Collaborate with Corporate and Digital Communications teams to ensure consistent messaging, tone, and alignment across all communication channels
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Ensure all communications meet high standards for quality, accuracy, and Calgary Airports’ brand voice
