About The Position

Champion Petfoods is expanding and seeking a Corporate Communications Manager to join their growing company. This role is a foundational part of the Corporate Affairs team, supporting both Internal and External Communications Directors. It's a hands-on position focused on executing communication strategies, engaging employees, and building the company's reputation. The manager will draft content, coordinate projects, assist with media relations and events, and contribute to the daily success of the Corporate Affairs team. This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring three days per week in-person at the Flatirons office in Boulder, Colorado.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a communications or public relations role (in-house or agency).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with both internal and external communications tactics.
  • Familiarity with communications tools and platforms (e.g., media monitoring services, social media schedulers, email or intranet platforms).
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a strong willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and projects.

Nice To Haves

  • In-house or PR agency industry experience in CPG or manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and publish content for internal channels (announcements, newsletters, intranet stories).
  • Assist in preparing materials for all-Associate town halls, leadership meetings, and internal events.
  • Support the activation of Mars Signature Programs (e.g., Mars Volunteer Program, community engagement).
  • Coordinate logistics and promote events to Associates.
  • Manage the internal communications calendar and assist with channel performance measurement.
  • Assist in executing external communications campaigns by drafting press releases, pitches, and media materials.
  • Provide support for brand PR activities for ORIJEN™ and ACANA™.
  • Support media relations by maintaining media lists, tracking coverage, and creating monitoring reports.
  • Provide tactical support to PR agency partners, coordinating requests and managing project timelines.
  • Execute content strategy for corporate social media channels, including drafting and posting on LinkedIn.
  • Coordinate logistics for product donations and support relationships with community partners.
  • Provide project management support to Corporate Affairs Directors, coordinating with regional contacts and tracking deliverables.
  • Maintain the library of foundational communications assets (messaging, photos, reactive statements).
  • Help create and manage a Champion Corporate Affairs Portal for Associates.
  • Collaborate with global Pet Nutrition Corporate Affairs team members to align with the global Petcare communications calendar.
  • Act as a collaborative partner to the entire Corporate Affairs team, assisting with administrative and project-based needs.
