About The Position

Corporate Banking is an integral part of BMO Capital Markets’ Investment and Corporate Banking group which offers corporate, institutional and government clients a complete range of financial services, including lending, equity and debt capital raising, structured finance, M&A, treasury and market risk management services, research and institutional investing. Corporate Banking is responsible for the marketing, management and monitoring of the Bank's corporate loan portfolio, and also supports the credit requirements and cross-selling efforts for other businesses including derivatives, foreign exchange, cash management, and trade finance. Upon joining BMO, analysts will start their careers with us by completing BMO Capital Markets Global Orientation and our Global Analyst and Associate Program (GAAP) which begins in July 2027. The program is designed to help you make the transition from theory to practice. Training includes core corporate banking skills, such as: accounting, valuation and modeling, and pitch book development. This training is delivered by leading industry professionals. You will also complete BMO specific training to learn about our strategy, culture and have plenty of opportunities to socialize with your peers and network with senior management and other internal contacts. Our goal is to hire young professionals with a desire to have a financial services career at BMO, providing them with continued training and professional development throughout their career at the firm. About Leveraged Lending: The Leveraged Lending team provides loans across industry sectors to support: LBOs (“Leveraged Buyouts”), Acquisition financing, Dividend recapitalizations, General working capital needs). Specifically, Leveraged Lending works to receive Credit’s approval to hold (primarily unfunded) revolving credit facilities to support these financing structures. Leveraged Lending works alongside Sponsor / Industry Coverage, Leveraged Finance, and Credit to execute proposed financings. Financings are typically highly leveraged and more complex than traditional bank loans (which are originated to corporate borrowers). This is due to the involvement of private equity firms and the competitive nature of the LBO process. Client Base: Financial Sponsor-owned Portfolio Companies with > $50MM of EBITDA

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, graduating in Dec. 2026 or Spring 2027.
  • Preferred minimum GPA of 3.4/4/0.
  • Strong interest in finance and banking.
  • Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills.
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Highly motivated, fast learning and able to work with limited supervision and adapt to frequent market, systems, and process changes.
  • Outgoing and personable; team player able to work effectively in small groups.
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of finance and the financial markets.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous banking or credit risk management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Processing client requests (e.g. new credit facilities and extensions and/or amendments to existing credit facilities).
  • Completing annual / interim credit reviews.
  • Credit reviews include industry and financial analysis comprising of: operating performance, cash flow, leverage, coverage and liquidity, as well as capital-at-risk and other regulatory capital calculations.
  • Monitoring performance of portfolio companies against credit terms and conditions and identify changes in the financial condition of a client.
  • Preparing presentation materials and relationship profitability assessments, which involve liaising with other product and industry groups within BMO Capital Markets.
  • Performing other duties including industry and company-specific research, as well as ad hoc projects for senior professionals.
